If you have ever been inspired by Corfu’s butterflies, taken photos and then wanted to draw or paint them, then this video is for you. Gillian Elsom is a committee member of Corfu Butterfly Conservation and has shared her love of photography, botany, art and butterflies by creating this video. In the video she talks about her inspiration for painting butterflies, goes through butterfly anatomy and wing venation and then shows her work process from pencil sketch, pen and ink drawing, to the finished painting in watercolour for two different species from Corfu.

The two species chosen as examples are Leptotes pirithous (Lang’s Short-tailed Blue) and Papilio alexanor (Southern Swallowtail), both male and female.

Also included are paintings of 12 other species which occur both in UK and Corfu.
