Educational Outreach Programme
One of the chief goals of Ionian Butterfly Conservation is educating the public about the importance of butterflies and moths in the conservation of the wider environment. With funding from the Ionian Environment Foundation (IEF) and the cooperation of the Capodistrias Museum, we were able to employ our own Educational Outreach Officer in August 2024. This programme has enabled us to undertake the following activities:
- host school groups of all ages,
- hold butterfly talks,
- teach butterfly monitoring,
- guide walks in the field,
- monitor species of special concern on Corfu,
- hold natural heritage and sustainability events,
- provide land management advice
- hold our popular Festival of Butterflies every spring.
